The annual Update offers summaries and analysis of important cases from the past year that are particularly relevant to Alaska Native Corporations and Alaska Tribes. This Update inspired discussion at the Alaska Bar Association’s annual Alaska Native Law Conference, an event where attorneys examine developments in Alaska Native law and track changes from year to year.
This year’s Update is organized into six categories: Tribal Sovereignty Cases, Lands Cases, Hunting and Fishing Cases, Corporate Governance Cases, Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Cases, and Miscellaneous Cases. Many of the cases reported are final decisions or dispositive rulings that have been issued since November 2024 and are important to Alaska practitioners.
