Landye Bennett Blumstein LLP is pleased to share that Partner Alex Cleghorn is the 2026 recipient of the Judge Nora Guinn Award.
The award was presented in April at the Alaska Bar Convention in Juneau. It is awarded to a “person who has made an extraordinary or sustained effort to assist Alaska’s Bush residents, especially its Native population, overcome language and cultural barriers to obtaining justice through the legal system.” Named after Judge Nora Guinn, a trailblazing Alaska Native jurist known for advancing equity in the legal system, the award celebrates a legacy of service, accessibility, and cultural understanding.
This honor reflects Alex’s depth of legal experience and long-standing commitment to serving Alaska Native communities across tribal, nonprofit, governmental, and corporate settings. His work embodies the spirit of the award by helping ensure the legal system is more accessible and effective for Alaska’s diverse populations.
At Landye Bennett Blumstein, Alex advises clients on a range of matters, including tribal governance, ANCSA corporate governance, ISDEAA contracting, and tribal court development. His work often involves navigating the complex intersections of tribal, state, and federal law, with an emphasis on practical solutions that strengthen access to justice and support self-determination.
